One day Ambalal was unable to sleep... Bed bugs were biting him and so he asked his mother, “We have bedbugs. Do they not bite you?”
She replied, “Son, of course they do, but do they come with containers demanding, ‘Give us some food?’ Those poor bedbugs eat their share and go away. Should we kill them for that?”
“No living being in this entire world should ever be hurt by me” – such a value was instilled in Ambalal’s heart.
In this way, Ambalal learnt the lesson of non-violence at an early age from his mother.
