Mistake Master Part-2

Timi looked at the bridge. His stomach made strange noises. And his heart felt heavy. He didn't want to fall. He didn't want to look silly. But the blue wind gave him a gentle nudge, and for the first time in his life, Timi’s curiosity was just a little bit bigger than his fear.

He stepped onto the bridge. It moved wildly. Wobble… wobble… WHOOPS! His foot slipped, and he fell. But he didn't hit the hard ground. He landed on a cloud that felt like a soft pillow.

Poof! A round, winged creature appeared. “Hello! I’m Tipper, your mistake.

You were looking at your feet too much! Next time, look at the centre of the bridge.”

Timi blinked. Tipper didn't look like a monster; he looked like a cuddly toy. For the first time, Timi laughed. He climbed back up and tried again.

Wiggle… wobble… SPLAT! Poof! A goggle-wearing creature appeared. “I’m Slider! You slipped because you rushed. Try taking small, steady steps!”

Timi nodded. He wasn't worried about the end of the bridge anymore; he was excited to see who he would meet next. He realized that every time he fell, he got a "secret learning tip." Learning wasn't scary. It was fun.

Step… wobble… small step… look ahead… steady…

With a final, brave leap, Timi reached the other side! Everyone roared with applause. As Timi turned to thank his mistake-friends, they began to fade into golden mist.

“Why are you leaving?” Timi asked his mistake friends, reaching out.

“Because you learned the lesson we came to teach,” The mistakes said softly and started to disappear, “Once learned, we are no longer needed.”

Timi looked back. The bridge was still wobbling.

The Professor tapped Timi’s head gently, ‘Timi, confident people aren’t perfect. They are just people who aren't afraid of the mistakes. When you stop feeding your fear with 'What-ifs,' the fear loses its power.”

WHOOSH! The sparkly wind returned, and before Timi could say goodbye, he was back in his room, the morning sun streaming through his window. ‘What happened’ Timi thought, ‘Was this a dream?’ Timi never figured it out.

The very next day at school, the bell rang for recess. A group of boys were sitting in a line for a game of Kho-Kho.

Old Timi would have stayed under the neem tree, hiding behind his water bottle. But New Timi remembered his mistake friends.

He walked up to the captain. “Can I play?”

Timi was chosen as a chaser. “KHO!” his teammate yelled, tapping his back.

Timi sprang up, but in his excitement, he forgot to watch his footing. His toe got caught in the loose mud and—SPLAT! He fell into the dust. The playground went silent. A few kids started to giggle.

Old Timi would have turned red, cried, and run to the bathroom to hide. But New Timi just sat there in the dirt. He didn't see a disaster. He smiled and thought, “Hi mistake friend! I see what happened. I was looking at the kids watching me instead of looking at the runner!”

He hopped up, brushed his dusty knees and yelled, “Give me another Kho! I’ve figured out the trick now!”

The other kids didn't laugh anymore. They looked at his big smile, and they felt brave too. Timi didn't win the game that day, and he certainly didn't play perfectly.

But he had learned something better. He now knew how to rise from a mistake and keep moving.
